Jointly organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong Science Museum, and supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition (HKSSPC) 2019 sent 4 representative teams to join the Korea Science and Engineering Fair 2019 from 17 to 22 October. The teams competed with participants from 12 countries for the highest glory of the science fair.
Professor Ho Ho Pui and Professor Lam Hon Ming from The Chinese University of Hong Kong were invited to provide valuable and professional advice to the four teams in further developing their projects for the fair. The results of the Hong Kong delegates were extraordinary and earned triumph in the Award Ceremony.
“Super Glue for Tree Defect” from Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung Yau College won the Gold Award and Special Award, “Quick Escape” from QualiEd College won the Silver Award, “E-Care” from Po Leung Kuk Celine Ho Yam Tong College won the Bronze Award, and “Investigating the Effect of Visible Light on the Plant Development” from Pak Kau College won the Honourable Mention. “Super Glue for Tree Defect” developed multi-function protective coatings to cure and reinforce trees. “Quick Escape” is a smart building system designed to help people to escape from the fire and reduce the number of casualties. “E-care” is an effective system in detecting the safety and health condition of elderly at home at any time. And “Investigating the Effect of Visible Light on the Plant Development” aims to find the most suitable indoor hydroponic light source for future agriculture development.
